ABOUT SACRAMENTO KNANAYA CATHOLIC CONGRESS

 

Mission Statement:

‘SACRAMENTO KNANAYA CATHOLIC CONGRESS (SKCC) is a unified group of Catholics belong to the Knanaya Catholic Community residing in greater Sacramento area of the State of California, USA. Its purpose is to facilitate communication, cooperation and integration among the members of the local Knanaya Catholic Community and to celebrate and showcase the Knanaya culture, values and traditions to the future generations'.

ESTABLISHMENT AND HISTORY:

The desire of Sacramento Knanaya community to establish a Knanaya Association in greater Sacramento area was approved by Knanaya Catholic Congress of North America (KCCNA) National Council meeting that was held in Los Angeles, CA on November 10, 2018.  The official inauguration of SKCC took place on February 16, 2019 in Sacramento. SKCC is the 21st unit under KCCNA. SKCC is registered with California Secretary of state as a nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation. It is organized under the Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law for public and charitable purposes. The specific purpose of SKCC is to provide a forum for Knanaya Catholics residing in greater Sacramento area to preserve and foster their religious, educational, literary, and artistic heritage and to preserve the endogenous nature of the Knanaya Community. SKCC got 501 (C) 3 status approval from Internal Revenue Service (IRS). SKCC also got tax exempt status from California Franchise Tax Board and Charity Registration Number from California Attorney General’s Office.  There are 50 registered families in SKCC. Knanaya Catholic Women's Forum of Sacramento (KCWFS) is established under SKCC and its inauguration took place on February 16, 2019. Knanaya Catholic Youth League of Sacramento (KCYLS) is established on November 16, 2019. KCWFS and KCYLS are sub-organizations under SKCC.
